Lahore Qalanders Beat Quetta Gladiators By 9 Wickets

Lahore Qalandars have won the PSL match against Quetta Gladiators in the Fourth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021.

PSL 6: Hafeez and Fakhar bat brilliantly, Qalandars beat Gladiators by 9 wickets

In the fourth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by 9 wickets thanks to brilliant batting by Fakhr Zaman and Muhammad Hafeez.

Lahore Qalandars veteran batsman Mohammad Hafeez and aggressive Fakhr Zaman completed the target of 179 runs in the 19th over.

In this match being played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Lahore Qalandars had decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Gladiators openers Tom Benton and Saeem Ayub were dismissed for 4 and 3, respectively, when the team's score was 12.

In such a situation, Chris Gayle and Sarfraz Ahmed of Gladiators used their experience to get the team out of difficulties and formed a century partnership to lead the team to a big total.

Earlier, in the third match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, Quetta Gladiators batted first against Lahore Qalandars thanks to Chris Gayle's first half-century and scored 178 for 6 in the allotted overs.

On the third day of PSL 2021 being played at National Stadium Karachi, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and invited Quetta Gladiators to bat first.

In the match, Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators are facing each other for the first time this season.

For the Gladiators, Tom Benton and Saeem Ayub opened and took a cautious approach but could not secure their wickets. In the second over, Benton was dismissed for just four runs off Harris Rauf.

Shaheen Shah Afridi sent Saeem Ayub to the pavilion in the third over, who scored 3 runs, so Quetta Gladiators lost both openers on 12 runs.


Lahore Qalandars fielder Salman Agha dropped an easy catch to Chris Gayle in the seventh over and gave him a chance and Sarfraz also batted well from the other end and completed the team's half-century in the eighth over.

Chris Gayle took full advantage of the opportunity to bat aggressively.

Talking to commentators during the game, Chris Gayle humorously repeated Googly, Googly, Googly.

Chris Gayle completed his first half-century in the PSL for which he hit a six off Rashid Khan's ball, his half-century included four fours and four sixes.

Sarfraz Ahmed and Chris Gayle shared 101 runs and Haris Rauf ended the captain's innings with 40 runs.

Rashid Khan gave a breath of fresh air to the Lahore Qalandars by taking the wickets of Chris Gayle in a dangerous manner. Gayle was dismissed for 68 off 40 balls with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes.

Ahmed Daniel caught Gladiators' Azam Khan at the hands of Shaheen Shah Afridi and inflicted the fifth loss, he could score only 13 runs off 9 balls with the help of a four.


Harris Rauf took 5 wickets off the second ball of the last over of the innings.

Quetta Gladiators scored 178 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated overs.

Muhammad Nawaz batted well in the closing overs and scored 33 off 20 balls and Anwar Ali faced one ball and scored one run.

Haris Rauf was the top wicket-taker for Lahore Qalandars with 3 wickets.

In pursuit of the target, Sohail Akhtar and Fakhr Zaman batted carefully and completed the team's half-century in the seventh over.

Captain Sohail Akhtar batted slowly and scored 21 off 26 balls with the help of 3 fours and Zahid Mahmood took his wickets.

Fakhruzzaman continued to bat responsibly from the other end and Muhammad Hafeez, who had batted well in the last match, came on the field to support him.

In the 11th over of the match, Fakhr Zaman hit a six off the first ball of Zahid Mahmood and completed his half-century by scoring a run on the second ball, which is his first half-century of the season.

It may be recalled that Quetta Gladiators lost to Karachi Kings in the first match while Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 4 wickets to start the tournament victoriously.

Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar said that a change has been made in the team.

Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed said that they will try to play well and two changes have been made in the team.
