Another precious life was lost in street crime in Karachi. A retired professor and former principal of Government Girls College Saudabad along with her husband were injured in a firing incident on a car in Liaquatabad, Sharifabad yesterday afternoon. Her husband died while undergoing treatment.
According to police, a shooting took place at Liaquatabad Sharifabad last evening. The couple had come to Liaquatabad supermarket for shopping and were going to Gulistan-e-Johar after shopping when their son’s phone rang. They waited for him near Sharifabad Main Road National Bank.
A man on a motorcycle came and smashed the windscreen of the vehicle for looting. Irfan, the victim’s husband, tried to drive away. The accused opened fire on the vehicle, injuring the couple.
The two injured first went to a private hospital, where they went to a private hospital on Stadium Road after first aid, but a 62-year-old woman died during treatment due to excessive bleeding.
The deceased has been identified as Nighat Nasreen, a former principal of Government Girls College, Saudabad.
