Darya Kay Iss Paar, a short film made by Pakistani youth on a very low budget won three major awards at the World Film Festival in the United States.

The trailer of the( Across the River) darya ke us par pakistani moves a short film, made by alumni of Lahore Engineering University, was released in January this year and the film was sent to several international festivals.

Across the River received six nominations at the annual World Festival in New York City, New York City, USA, of which the film won three awards.



Across the River won Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Idea awards, according to the New York City International Film Festival (NYC) website.

In this regard, musician and audio engineer Mubeen Zahid, who played a role in the preparation of the original song across the river, also said in his Instagram post that the short film made by the alumni on a low budget won three awards.

The story across the river revolves around the plight of a family in northern Pakistan, and especially a young girl.

In his post, Mubeen Zahid quoted the film as saying that in 2019, former student producer Shoaib Sultan presented a plan to make a film, on which his former colleagues worked with him.

He termed the winning of three international awards for a short film as a success not only for the country and the nation but also for the film team.

An Indian short film also won two awards at the New York Film Festival, while Bollywood actor Anupam Kher also bagged the Best Actor award for his role in an Indian short film at the same festival.

The festival began in mid-April and lasted until May 5, featuring short, 15-40 minute action, horror, art, and drama films from around the world.
