A Gang Involved in Making Fake Fingerprints and Thumbprints was Caught in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: A gang involved in making fake fingerprints and thumbprints has been nabbed in Peshawar, police said on Monday.

According to SP President Division Peshawar Waqar Ahmed, a gang involved in making fake fingerprints and thumbprints was arrested in Peshawar. The accused include Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Naveed, Bilal and Shah Hussain. The Peshawar-based suspects have held key positions in the franchise of a highly educated and well-known national mobile company.

Police said that the accused used to make fake rubber thumbprints from fingerprints, obtain mobile SIMs through fake fingerprints, deal in anonymous bank accounts with fake fingerprints and also sell SIMs at exorbitant prices. Involved, illegal SIMs were used for extortion calls.

Police said that kidnapping for ransom was also paid from anonymous accounts created with fake fingerprints, easy money and MobiCash accounts were also created with fake fingerprints, the accused are also experts in making fake transfers and other fake government documents. Initially, 346 illegal active SIMs and 88 fake fingerprints made of rubber were recovered from the accused.

Police said that it has been decided to involve the accused in the investigation of extortion cases, details of ten suspicious bank accounts are being obtained, SBP and other concerned agencies have been contacted, handing over fake transfers. The district administration and Tehsildar Peshawar have also been contacted. Other persons have also been interrogated on the identification of the accused. A special team headed by DSP Badhaber Malik Habib has been formed.
