First ODI: England decides to field after winning the toss against Pakistan


Cardiff: In the first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and England, England has decided to field after winning the toss.

England captain Ben Stokes has won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat.

England VS Pakistan First ODI Match Squad:

Both teams consist of these players for the match.

England: Ben Stokes (captain), David Milan, Phil Salt, Zack Crowley, James Vance, John Simpson, Louis Gregory, Craig Everton, Braden Cars, Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson.

Pakistan: Babar Azam (captain), Fakhr Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, Sohaib Maqsood, Shadab Khan, Fahim Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf

Speaking after the toss, Uber Azam said that the ground is very good, it is fun to play here, there will be good competition in the series.

“Our whole team is new and young, but all the boys are confident and will perform well,” said English captain Ben Stoke. On this occasion, Captain Babar Azam said that we did not get a good opportunity to prepare, there were only 10 days for match practice but we are not worried about this.

Sohaib Maqsood has been included in the national team after 5 years and Saud Shakeel will make his debut while other players include Fakhr Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Fahim Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.

On the very first ball of the match, Saqib Mehmood made Imam-ul-Haq move and the Pakistani team had not yet recovered from the loss that even before opening the account after two balls, Babar Azam also walked without scoring a run.

Pakistan have so far scored 4 runs for the loss of two wickets in two overs.

It may be recalled that young Saud Shakeel is making his debut for Pakistan while five players are playing their first match for England.

England debutants include Phil Salt, Zac Crowley, Louis Gregory, Braden Cars and John Simpson.

Sarfraz Ahmed could not make a place in the Pakistani team once again and Sohaib Maqsood, who was included in the team just before the tour, has been made a part of the final XI.

It is to be noted that two days before the start of the series, three players of the England squad and four members of the staff tested positive for Code-19, after which England announced a new squad for the series against Pakistan.
