Quora News: DUSHANBE: A magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Tajikistan wreaked havoc, killing five people and injuring several others.

The epicenter was reported at 165 kilometers southwest of the capital, Dushanbe, at a depth of 2 kilometers, according to the International News Agency.

The quake destroyed dozens of homes and disrupted power supply in many areas. The bodies of 5 people have been exhumed from the rubble of houses, bodies are being recovered from the rubble while emergency has been declared in the hospitals.

Rescuers rushed the injured to a nearby hospital, while relief camps were set up for the displaced. Food and other essentials have been provided to the victims.

Disaster management officials said the aftershocks would continue after the quake, forcing residents to evacuate from mountainous areas.
