The Taliban are making rapid progress in Afghanistan and have laid siege to the capital, Kabul.
The evacuation of staff and civilians from the US embassy also accelerated after the Taliban laid siege to Kabul.
In such a situation, the pictures of the Chinook helicopter taking its crew and citizens to Kabul airport from the top of the US embassy went viral on social media.
Along with these pictures, the pictures of evacuating their citizens by helicopter during the US withdrawal from Vietnam in 1975 are also going viral.
Two iconic images clicked 45 years apart. The US Embassy staff fleeing from Saigon (top) and Kabul (bottom).
