The Sikh community is protesting the shooting death of four people on the premises of a courier company in the United States and has demanded protection from the US government.
A gunman opened fire on Indiana police in the US state of Indiana on Thursday night, killing at least eight people and wounding several others.
Four of those killed in the shooting belonged to the Sikh community.
The Sikh Alliance in the United States said in a statement that four members of the Sikh community were killed in Thursday’s attack and that the injured were being treated at a hospital.
“My grandmother was among the dead and we call on the US government to provide protection and safety to the entire Sikh community in the aftermath of this tragic incident,” said Komal Chauhan, one of the victims.
“Several of my family members work in a courier company and we are very sad. We should not feel insecure at our place of work or place of worship, but that’s enough, our community is very sad,” he said. Took the lake
The shooter was identified as 19-year-old Brendan Scott Hole at the premises of the courier company FedEx.

According to police, Brendan was also a former employee of the courier company but the reason for his move has not been clarified yet.
“We do not yet know the motive of the attacker but he targeted a building where a large number of members of the Sikh community work,” Satjit Kaur, executive director of Sikh Ittihad, told AP Are
“This attack is very painful for our Sikh community because we are constantly facing such violent incidents,” he said.
“What’s even more painful is that we, the members of the Sikh community, have to go back to the place where our lives were almost taken away,” Satjit Kaur said.
US President Joe Biden has condemned the shooting at Indiana police and said more needs to be done to prevent such armed violence.
It should be noted that several shooting incidents have taken place in the United States in recent times.
Four people, including a child, were killed in a shooting at an office building in Southern California late last month.
On March 22, 10 people were killed in a shooting at a supermarket in Colorado.
Just eight days before the shooting in Colorado, eight people, including six women of Asian descent, were killed in Georgia.
It was the third shooting in India this year that killed five people, including a pregnant woman, in January and four in March, including a child.
