Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have explained the reason for naming their daughter Lilliputian Diana.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have named their daughter Layla after Queen Elizabeth II and her late mother, Princess Diana.
In a statement, the royal couple said, “Their grandmother, the Queen of Britain, is affectionately known as Laila in the royal family, so they have named their daughter after their grandmother.”
Explaining the reason for naming their daughter Diana, the royal couple said: “We have made this choice to pay tribute to our daughter’s beloved late grandmother, Princess Diana of Wales.”
Lilliput, the queen’s nickname, means “God’s promise.”
The Queen has also congratulated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the occasion, while Prince of Wales Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are also happy with the news.
It should be noted that a daughter has been born to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, a member of the British royal family.
Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California on Friday. Prince Harry was present at the hospital.
